"A feature of the production is a community chorus, drawn from all ages and backgrounds. They were one of the successes of the evening - twenty well-schooled voices, with no previous experience in opera, singing confidently in what really is a specialized style of music."
Described as 'Scotland's fresh new opera company' (BBC Radio Scotland), Ayrshire Opera launch their new sister opera company - Perthshire Opera- with a course in Baroque Opera performance focusing on Charpentier's Acteon in an exciting new Scots translation written specially for the group in 2013.
Having run two successful courses in Ayrshire to great acclaim Ayrshire Opera are excited to branch out into Perthshire.
Colleen Nicoll has been working with Ayrshire Opera over the past two years and is looking forward to bringing the team to her home turf.
The course will begin on Sunday the 23rd of October with an informal sing through of the opera - don't worry, this is a chance for the chorus to learn the notes, no preperation is required in advance. We will then meet from 7.00pm - 9.30pm throughout the week to continue rehearsing and stage the opera, leading to a final performance on the evening of Saturday the 29th of October.
Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a masterclass on the afternoon of the 26th of October where they can perform and work on repertoire of their own choice.
